2001 Roll Call of (14) Famous Faces for innovation in the 20th Century. (The roll includes
the Nobel prize winners - Florey, Bragg, Oliphant). Dr. Ford was included for her work on lifestyle and health. She
also has entries in many biographical books including Debretts Handbook of Australia and
Whos Who in the World.
She has received extensive coverage in the media, first in 1972. In 1989, Dr. Ford wrote and
presented a series of four programs on ABC PGR (Parental Guidance Recommended), entitled
in the Womb. These programs have since been repeated many times and have been
purchased by schools as a curriculum resource. From 1989 to 1993, the media took
considerable interest in the progress of her research into the effects of Lifestyle in
Pregnancy outcome. This was highlighted by the January 2, 1995, ABC Quantum half-hour
feature program on her life as a scientist and on her research. The Australian media has
continued to report and discuss this and other aspects of her research. In late 1995, her
work was featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Commission, the BBC and NBC Washington.
Philip Satchells (ABC Radio 5AN) interviewed her as special guest in his one hour
program Profiles in August 2001. She is regularly interviewed on TV Current Affairs
programs.
